Long Chain Zipper

Continuous zipper chains cut to your specifications are often referred to as "long chain zippers" or "by the yard zippers". This means a zip chain is cut to the length of your choice. Specify the yardage you need, then cut a piece from the spool that fits exactly that yardage. You'll need to attach a zipper slider to it (sold separately) and sew to create the top and bottom stops, or use the zipper top stop and bottom stop hardware (also sold separately).

Long chain zippers or zip-by-the-yard zippers are great to use if you plan on making a lot of long zippers or making zippers in hard-to-find lengths. Long chain zippers are used by studios for a variety of purposes including upholstery, outdoor cushions and pillows.

ZIPHOO offers a variety of zipper chain options by the yard. Also known as continuous zipper chain, this is a "raw" zipper material without any stop points. It is unfinished zipper material. You receive it in the "tight" position and you can assemble the rest of the zipper yourself by adding the puller and stop. Corresponding sliders are available and sold separately. Continuous zipper chains (or sometimes called zipper tapes) are only suitable for closed applications - you cannot make individual zippers out of zipper chains. Zipper tape is especially handy for projects that use longer than regular zippers. With long chain zippers (or zippers by the yard), you can create custom zippers of any length.
